CLAD in leather and possessing hair which can unfurl and entwine itself into devastating weapons to smash enemies with, Bayonetta is an instantly striking lead character. She is a witch but a very different kind to the ones that ride broomsticks.

For a start she has guns in her shoes.

With a character like that and plenty of slow shots which linger all over her body, most people would assume this was another of those sexist boy games; all girls and guns and Replica Replica Omega Watches Handbags violence - and it would be hard to argue.

But the developers have a high pedigree - their lead designer came up with Resident Evil Hermes Bags and Devil May Cry.

This game is very similar to the latter. It plays out in thirdperson across a fictional, crumbling European city called Vigrid. You play Bayonetta and you leap, kick, slash, spin and shoot your way through endless monsters trying to find a precious gemstone.

The game actually has a good, well-written story and features some truly excellent cut-scenes which manage to give the otherwise one-dimensional Bayonetta a real character.

Visually, things are solid and colourful. Nothing special, mind, but that keeps things smooth.

Which is good because
embroidered patches Bayonetta features some of the most jaw- dropping action around and you wouldn't want to miss a thing.

Players of all skills will feel satisfaction because the huge numbers of moves are easy to mash your way through but patient players will find endless joy in linking smooth combinations of athletic attacks and earning the devastating finishing moves, which involve guillotines, iron maidens, and, of course, Bayonetta's own hair.

Ultimately, some people will not get past seeing this as a silly game made by silly men for other silly men. But it makes no apologies and if you can accept it, it is an outstanding experience.
