Watching some of the best teams in the state, not to mention the country, at my first Classic in the Country really made me want to lace up some shoes, put on a pair of baggy shorts and try my hand at some fancy ballhandling.

But, knowing my lack of skills on the court, I refrained from acting on any sudden urges and stayed within the confines of the designated media area of the Perry Reese Community Center.

The buzz about who was the best player/team/coach at the three- day event grew with each game. Being the new girl to this hoopla of girls hoops, I kept most of my opinions to myself, instead listening to my elder writers, soaking it all in.

I've absorbed enough, though.

You see, when a majority of the best girls basketball programs in the state are playing under one roof for an entire weekend, it is only natural for a sports writer to want pick out her favorite teams and players and rank them accordingly.

And then share her thoughts with readers.

So here are my top five teams and top five players from the seventh annual Classic in the Country:

1. Regina --Arguably one of the most-feared teams in Ohio, the Royals have a knack for making their opponents look like a bunch of middle-schoolers Gucci Jewelry on the court. Currently ranked No. 1 in the Div. III state AP poll, Regina won both of its CitC games handily, taking down out-of-state contender University (N.J.) 56-35 before turning around and dominating Div. I Mason 53-33 just a day later. Regina is led by Florida State recruit Tay'ler Mingo, who scored 33 points at the CitC, and Pa'Sonna Hope (32 points) who is committed to play at Ole Miss. The Royals are currently 10-2 on the season, but there is no doubt they could have hung with, and more than likely defeated, any team at the Classic on any given day. This is the final season for Regina, as the team has announced plans to close, but there's no doubt the team has left a lasting impression on the minds and courts of area teams. And there is still a half a season left. Regina will take on Hiland in a return to the Perry Reese Community Center Feb. 4.

2. Toledo Start -- After nudging out a 54-51 revenge victory over Mount Notre Dame in a rematch of last year's Div. I championship game, Start stopped Potter's House (Fla.) in the best matchup of the CitC. The Spartans, ranked third in Div. I in the state and 36th nationally, tamed the Lions, who blew out host Hiland earlier in the Classic 77-54. Start has five starters who will all likely play college ball at Div. I schools. Junior Maleeka Kynard (30 points in the CitC) is already committed to Ohio State, while senior Tiffani Blackman (14 points in the CitC) is a Seton Hall recruit. The only reason the Spartans did not take the No. 1 spot is because they lost to Regina last year at the Classic. Now that would be a fast-paced, high-scoring rematch.

3. Potter's House -- Sure they lost to Toledo Start, but the Lions were also the first team all year to take down returning Div. IV state runner-up Hiland. Potter's House, currently ranked 43rd in the nation, is, in a word -- fast. The Lions had 36 steals in their two Classic games thanks to amazing speed and agility. Potter's House also had four girls reach double-digits in single-game scoring. Four of Potter's House's five starters are nationally ranked, led by small forward Loliya Briggs, who's committed to Pittsburgh.

4. Twinsburg -- Coached by local product Julie (Paolano) Solis from Doylestown, the Tigers went 2-0 at the Classic by defeati
